The Tower Company, founded in 1945 and reorganized in 1961, is a leading Arctic design, construction, and management firm in Canada. Operating continuously in the Arctic since 1946, it has pioneered modern permafrost design and construction methods.

After World War II, the company built the first permanent High Arctic Weather Stations (HAWS) for Canada and the U.S., followed by the Resolute Bay Airport and various scientific stations in the Northwest Territories and Greenland. Tower Company led Arctic innovation, introducing airlift-supported projects, soft-balloon tire aircraft for unprepared terrain, and lightweight prefabricated structures. It also developed new permafrost foundation techniques and built the High Arctic weather station network and the Eastern portion of the DEW Line for the Canada.

Tower Arctic Ltd. is a member firm of the Tower Group of Companies, the second oldest operating group in Nunavut; second only to the Hudson’s Bay Company; now Northern Stores.
